DR MAKAZIWE MANDELA (Non-Executive Chairman)

Dr Makaziwe Mandela holds a bachelors degree in Social Work, an Honours and Masters Degree in Sociology, and a Doctorate in Anthropology.

She has worked for a number of academic institutions in South Africa and abroad. She spent a number of years working for the Development Bank of Southern Africa as Executive Manager Corporate Services.  Prior to that she worked for Spoornet as General Manager Human Resources.

SALUKAZI DAKILE-HLONGWANE (Executive)

Salukazi graduated from the University of Lesotho in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and Statistics.  In 1980 she completed her Masters in Administration in Development Economics at Williams College, Massachusetts, USA.

Since 1977 Salukazi has, amongst other positions, worked as part time lecturer in Business Economics at the University of Lesotho, as Programme Manager for the Development Bank of Southern Africa, as a Principal Cooperation Officer at African Development Bank (Abidjan), as a Senior Manager in the Structured Finance Unit of FirstCorp Merchant Bank and as an Assistant General Manager of BOE Investment Bank.

RAMPA RAMMOPO (Executive Director)

Rampa graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 1990 with BCom in Accounting and Business Economics in 1992, he completed his BCom (Honours) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).  He is currently studying for his CA qualifications.

Rampa’s background includes over 13 years of accounting and investment banking experience.  He completed his training as an accountant at Ernst & Young in 1994 to join Gold Fields of SA Limited as a Cost Accountant.

NTOMBI MSIMANG (Non-Executive Director)

Ms. Ntombi Msimang is an entrepreneur who has spent most of her career in financial services. She holds a Bsc.Admin (Accounting) degree from the United States International University. From July 2004 to April 2006 she was Project Manager for the establishment of the South African Microfinance Apex Fund, an initiative of the dti, which has now been established. Its focus is access to affordable micro financial services for rural communities.

Between 1999 and 2003 Ntombi was the Regional Manager for the Holland based Oikocredit Loan Fund. Her work in South Africa extended to Lesotho, Swaziland, and Namibia, where she was responsible for the administration of this Fund. Oikocredit was set up to finance co-operatives involved in profitable agricultural enterprise; SMEs as well as Micro credit Financial Institutions.

JAN CRONJE (Non-Executive Director)

Qualifications:  Rand Afrikaans University (M.Com LLB)

Jan qualified as an attorney with Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys and entered Corporate Finance in 1989 by joining FirstCorp Merchant Bank.  After gaining experience in a wide range of corporate finance advisory roles in South Africa, Jan spent two years with CIBC Wood Gundy Securities in Canada where he gained experience in mergers and acquisitions and the raising of debt and equity in the North American markets.

ADELE PRETORIUS (Independent Non-Executive Director)

Adele holds degree in Mathematics and Finance. The early years of her career, after raising her children, were spent with Transnet as a Manager in the finance department.

After a short spell with PriceWaterHouseCoopers Corporate Finance Division where she specialised in the implementation of EVA, Balanced Scorecard, Cost of Capital and other value added projects, she joined Absa. At Absa Corporate and Merchant Bank, as part of the Executive Committee, she was responsible for risk management until her retirement in August 2006. She also held portfolios such as strategic investments, executive bonuses.

ALWYN MARTIN (Independent Non-Executive Director)

Alwyn Martin holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Botany and a Bachelor of Commerce CTA majoring in Accounting, Auditing Business Administration and Economics.

He was a founder partner of Christian, Martin, and Abrahamse Chartered Accountants and subsequently worked for ten years with Ernst and Young. In 1996 he was appointed Chairman of Vodacom Group (Pty) Ltd and Chairman of Vodac.
