NOZALA TRUST
BACKGROUND
The Nozala Trust (“The Trust") set up in 1998 is the corporate social investment arm of Nozala Investments (Pty) Ltd (“Nozala”), established primarily to assist Nozala’s broad based women’s groups to build their capacity in their small businesses. The intention is to link the groups to markets and for them to become suppliers in some of the businesses where Nozala is a shareholder.
MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
The mission of the Trust is to
“support and develop sustainable black women entrepreneurs in rural & peri urban areas through the provision of financial and technical assistance”.

Operational Strategy
The overall strategy of the Trust is to establish and work with partner organisations that work with women groups to identify women entrepreneurs for support.
The partners include:
- National Movement of Rural Women - National
- Ijelo Labafazi – Eastern Cape
- Izandla - A joint Venture Company of Nozala Trust and Cape Women’s Forum based in Western Cape.
- Muthande Society for the Aged - National
- Workers Investment Corporation – National
- Sequoia Investments – Gauteng
- Itumeleng Investments – Gauteng
- Akhona Trade & Investments - KZN
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
Nozala Trust provides a number of critical services including: Training & Development, Technical support, Mentoring support and Micro Credit.
Projects Funded
To date Grant and Loan Funding has been provided to 25 projects; 2 National projects, 5 projects in Limpopo (Tsimanyane), 3 in KwaZulu-Natal; 5 in the Free State Province (Thabong), 2 in Eastern Cape, 1 in North West, 3 in Kwazulu Natal and 4 in Western Cape. Projects that enhance food security are given priority. Of the funded projects 75% are in the agricultural sector and have a direct impact on food security of participants and their communities.
